A Great Idea for Improving Overall Health

Dinner Salad from the TempletonArticles are everywhere reporting the unprecedented rise in chronic illnesses such as diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, MS, thyroid issues, digestive disorders, chronic fatigue, and fibromyalgia as well as the astounding rise in obesity in our country. Such information brings confusion as to why these conditions are so prevalent as well as uncertainty about what can be done, especially for someone suffering from such conditions.

Observing people in our community confirms much of this information. I see many overweight people. I see many people limping, some bent over as if their backs ache and it is hard to stand erect, I observe gait dysfunction, and I hear of knee, hip, and shoulder replacements – all costly undertakings both for the body and the pocketbook.

I believe there are nutritional remedies for most of these conditions and I want to share with my readers an excellent book I just completed that addressed a family’s overwhelming diagnoses of diabetes, hyperthyroidism, arrhythmias, allergies, rheumatoid arthritis, skin conditions, and weight gain after emigrating to the USA and delighting in the consumption of easy foods—processed, refined, hydrogenated, microwaved, pre-packaged and such they had no access to in their country.

Without wanting to take medications and insulin shots, this family began consuming a raw food diet. In a matter of months ALL their maladies had cleared up and their weight was reaching normal. Beginning a raw food diet or partial raw food diet plan may be just what you need to improve your health. Here are some reasons why consuming more raw foods is great for the human body.

Raw foods are rich in vital nutrients – vitamins, minerals, amino acids, flavonals, enzymes, and with greens chlorophyll – all important essential nutrition for growth and health. Even those of us who consume meat, cows, chickens, sheep, and wild game all consume green plants that form their body tissues. When I encourage everyone to eat grass fed animal meats, it is to help you recognize the importance of natural plant diets of these animals to produce the richest, nutrient dense meat tissues.

Human bodies can benefit from a similar diet. The key is to provide one’s self with a wide variety of raw foods and greens to maximize a full array of nutrients. Most people think of raw food as salads and tire of eating salads every day. However, there are many ways to increase raw foods daily and begin to see the benefits of increased energy, improved sleep patterns, weight loss, and reduction of symptoms.

Green smoothies every day is a pleasant and tasteful way to begin increasing greens and fruits. A powerful blender is all you need along with your imagination. Here is an easy recipe to begin your raw food journey. Combine in your blender 2 bananas, 1 apple cored, 1 pear cored, 1 cup of kale with the center ribs removed, and ¼ cup of water or more depending on the consistency you want. Blend well and enjoy. For some, you may want to sweeten your green smoothie until you get used to the taste of greens. Increase your fruits or add a little agave nectar or stevia.

Next week I will share more ideas for increasing raw foods. I am already receiving benefits from better sleep, more energy, and the dermatitis on my hands has begun to clear after 3 days of green smoothies and grand mixed veggie salads for lunch.
